In February 2003, the European Union (EU) released a directive regarding the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS). The directive restricts the use of lead and other materials in electronic equipment sold in the EU beginning July 1, 2006. V-TEK supports protecting the environment and serving our customers effectively. We have many customers who intend to meet the requirements of RoHS and we are committed to helping them.
V-TEK supports the policy outlined by the National Electronic Distributors Association (NEDA) calling for new part numbers to be assigned to products which comply with the RoHS directive. At the same time, we are aware that many component manufacturers will take alternate approaches to identifying RoHS-compliant products. V-TEK will work with all of our customers and suppliers to make the transition to RoHS compliance as smooth as possible.
V-TEK has created a RoHS Team to plan and implement V-TEK's RoHS response. Their mission is to develop procedures to:
- Make information available to our customers and respond to all surveys and questionnaires.
- Segregate inventory where necessary.
- Label or otherwise identify RoHS compliant products.
- Have suppliers complete RoHS compliant surveys and determine needed replacement part numbers.
We recognize that our customers may have an immediate need for answers to a wide variety of questions regarding RoHS compliance. The RoHS compliance status of any individual item can be provided by V-TEK upon request, to the extent that the information is available to us.
